What changed in 2026: Gartner Digital Markets is now part of G2
If you have seen Illumine described as a Gartner Digital Markets recognised platform, here is the update.
On January 29, 2026, G2 announced it had agreed to acquire Capterra, Software Advice and GetApp from Gartner. The deal closed on February 5, 2026 for approximately $110 million, according to Gartner's 10-K filing. Gartner has exited the software review marketplace business it ran as Gartner Digital Markets, and the three sites now sit under G2 as a rebranded G2 Digital Markets, operated separately from G2.com.
What this means for a childcare director comparing software:
- Reviews on Capterra, Software Advice and GetApp are all still live. Nothing was removed.
- The combined group covers roughly six million verified reviews and around 200 million software buyers a year.
- Badge programmes changed. GetApp retired its Category Leaders badge for the 2026 cycle. Capterra continues to publish Shortlist, Best Ease of Use and Best Value. Software Advice continues FrontRunners, Best Customer Support and Most Recommended.
We are updating this page rather than leaving an old award notice in place, because a number of vendor sites still cite a Gartner relationship that no longer exists.
